Kids do Rome
Home

With more than 20 million people visiting Rome each year, the city can quite obviously sell itself. But as well as being full of exceptional culture and history,
not to mention the best pizzas you’ll ever taste, Rome is also a fascinating and inspirational place for children. And this is where Rome could do with some help.

We can all remember being ten and having to listen to adults talk for what seemed like forever about things we didn’t know (or want to know) about. Well guess what, nothing’s changed! A child still looks with dread at that audio guide handed out at the start of a museum tour. And it’s not surprising; there aren’t many things in life aside from The Beatles that adults and children can both enjoy listening to for three hours straight.

Ever watched a child look at a Caravaggio painting after reading the information provided? We're guessing they didn't stare at it with any more enthusiasm than the last painting they saw. But take that child aside and tell them that Caravaggio was an artist who broke the rules not only in his painting style but in life too… that he was a dangerous man, considered a rebel in his time, and once fled Rome with a price on his head after killing a man in a brawl. Now look at that same child standing in front of the same painting. We’ll bet they look a little closer this time.

Providing information to children in a fun way that doesn’t bore them to tears is the least we can do when you think about the amount we expect them to absorb
on a daily basis. And that’s where we come into it – finding ways to get information from A (the source) to Z (the child’s mind) via a colourful alphabet they won’t
ever forget.

The trick is capturing a child’s attention… and why not their imagination while you’re at it.
